Omio
Omio (formerly GoEuro) is a Berlin-headquartered metasearch for trains, buses, ferries, and flights. Its core competence is European multi-modal routing — e.g., comparing the train vs. the bus vs. a budget flight on the same trip in one search.

What it does well
- Multi-modal comparison. Train, bus, and flight prices and durations side-by-side. Often surfaces a 4-hour bus that beats a 1-hour flight + 2-hour airport buffer on real door-to-door time.
- European rail breadth. Indexes Deutsche Bahn, SNCF, Trenitalia, Renfe, OBB, NS, Eurostar, and dozens of regional operators in one place. The cross-operator search is the value, not the per-operator price.
- Mobile e-tickets. Most bookings deliver a scannable mobile ticket, removing the need for paper printouts or operator-app downloads.
- Trip planner UI. Multi-leg itineraries (Berlin → Prague → Vienna) are easier to build here than on individual operator sites.
Best for
European trips that mix multiple operators or modes. Particularly useful for Germany, Italy, France, Spain, the UK, Austria, and the Netherlands. Less compelling outside Europe, where coverage thins out.
Watch out for
- Booking fee. Omio adds a small per-ticket fee disclosed before payment. For long routes the fee is small relative to the fare; for short regional trips, the operator's own site is usually cheaper.
- Discount cards aren't always honored. National rail cards (BahnCard, Carte Avantage, Senior Railcard) sometimes don't apply through Omio. If you hold one, book direct.
- Reservation policies vary by operator. Some German regional trains don't require seat reservations; other countries do. Omio surfaces this inconsistently — verify in the operator's confirmation if your route requires a reserved seat.
- Refunds route through Omio. When the operator allows refunds, Omio processes them — sometimes more slowly than direct. For tickets you're likely to cancel, book direct.
How we verify this page
Operator coverage and fee structure are checked quarterly against Omio's official help center. Mode-comparison claims are general; actual time savings vary by route.
