Traveloka
Traveloka is the largest Southeast Asia-headquartered OTA, founded in Indonesia and operating across Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Australia. For domestic travel within those markets, Traveloka frequently shows inventory and fares the global OTAs don't.

What it does well
- SEA local-carrier coverage. Domestic Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese airlines (Lion Air, AirAsia, VietJet, Bangkok Airways) and small regional hotels with deep local-language metadata.
- Local payment methods. Accepts dozens of regional payment options — bank transfers, e-wallets (GoPay, OVO, GrabPay), Indomaret cash — that other OTAs don't support.
- Activities and Xperience. Local tours, theme-park tickets, and SIM cards bookable in-app at locally negotiated rates.
- EasyReschedule and EasyRefund. Tier-based flexibility add-ons let you change dates or refund within defined rules — useful in markets where carrier change policies are inconsistent.
Best for
Travel within or to Southeast Asia, especially when paying with a regional method or booking a domestic carrier that isn't well-indexed by Booking, Expedia, or Agoda. Less competitive for trips fully outside SEA.
Watch out for
- Currency selection. Default currency on the US-facing site may not match what's charged. Confirm the displayed currency matches your card's billing currency to avoid double-conversion fees.
- Customer support is regional. Phone support hours and language coverage vary by market. International English support exists but is thinner than Booking's or Expedia's.
- Carrier irregular operations. Some SEA low-cost carriers are slow to refund through any channel. Travel insurance with cancellation coverage is worth checking for date-critical SEA trips.
- Hotel rating inflation. Star ratings on smaller regional properties are sometimes self-assigned. Cross-check user reviews before booking lower-tier inventory.
